The Main Event – February 24, 2017

Connect with The Main Event on social media! Follow Ed on Twitter @EdHoffman, where he tweets about current events all week long – and, like the show on Facebook at Facebook.com/TheMainEventEdHoffman. Here’s a preview of this week’s show!

This week, Ed welcomes frequent phone guest Joey Jones in studio for the first time! “Joey has flown in for our WCC Charities Gala & Auction,” Ed says. “He came to town just for that.” They talk about the pressures today’s veterans are experiencing, and Joey attributes some of those pressures to social media. You’ll find his comments fascinating.

After that, they discuss a home buying scenario Joey recently experienced; Ed has been eager to discuss it on the show because he believes many home buyers experience the same thing. “The appraiser came in $75,000 under what we thought was a good price,” Joey says, and this led to some problems with the loan process. Ed explains the ins and outs of a scenario like this to inform listeners regarding the critical connection between the appraisal and their mortgage loan.

After that, it’s on to a discussion on the immigration developments of the week.

On Monday, Homeland Security Secretary John Kelly released two memos: “Implementing the President’s Border Security and Immigration Enforcement Improvement Policies” and “Enforcement of the Immigration Laws to Serve the National Interest.” In them, Kelly promised to:

  • Hire 10,000 Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents and officers
  • Hire 5,000 Border Patrol agents
  • Plan, design and construct a U.S.-Mexico border wall
  • Prioritize criminal illegal immigrants and others for deportation, which will now include those convicted or charged with “any criminal offense,” or those who have “abused any public welfare program”
  • End “catch-and-release” policies under which illegal immigrants subject to deportation may be allowed to “abscond” and fail to appear at removal hearings
  • Expand the 287(g) program, which allows local police officers to act as immigration agents (a program that was significantly limited in the Obama administration)

You’ll hear Ed and Joey’s take on those changes, plus you’ll get analysis of the debacle concerning President Trump referring to a “military operation” on the border. Ed and his guest have very different viewpoints on the matter; Joey’s public policy background gives him an intellectual perspective many people will find interesting. After that, Ed reads part of a humorous satire piece on California being “sold” to Mexico. “I think we’ll put this up on EdHoffman.net,” Ed says. Look for it soon!

On this week’s show, you’ll also hear:

  • The voice of the mysterious “villain” of the Trump administration, Steve Bannon
  • An insider’s perspective on how members of Congress make many of their decisions
  • How many times the cop killer in Whittier was in and out of jail over the past six years – outrageous!

The Main Event – February 17, 2017

Connect with The Main Event on social media! Follow Ed on Twitter @EdHoffman, where he tweets about current events all week long – and, like the show on Facebook at Facebook.com/TheMainEventEdHoffman. Here’s a preview of this week’s show!

This week, the top story is the resignation of Michael Flynn as National Security Advisor – but first, Ed has some real estate insight to share. “The biggest thing I can tell you is that buyers want to close fast,” he says, “and that’s what we do at Wholesale Capital Corporation.” He encourages anyone interested in a home loan to call him at (855) 640-2020, especially if you want to talk to somebody local who you can trust – someone who can answer your questions face-to-face. He also wants to remind everyone one more time to get their tickets to the WCC Charities Gala & Auction. “Go to www.WCCcharities.org or call my assistant Shelly at (855) 640-2020,” he says, “if you want to get your last minute tickets. We’re going to have some special guest speakers and entertainment by The Killer Dueling Pianos, and we’re going to raise some money for the Gary Sinise Foundation.” There are about 10 seats left, and you can get them!

Next, it’s on to the Flynn resignation story. If you feel like you need a better grasp on the situation that led to the first cabinet resignation of the Trump presidency, tune in this week; Ed has the entire timeline, from December 29 when Flynn’s phone call with the Russian ambassador took place all the way through Flynn’s resignation this week. “Hmm, December 29 – who was still President then?” Ed says to establish the timeline. Ed notes that Obama’s top intelligence deputies met to talk about Flynn’s phone call with the ambassador on January 19. “Hmm, I’m only President for one more day – let’s meet to talk about this,” Ed says of Obama. What could their motives have been? You can probably guess! There’s also a lot to discuss when it comes to Sally Yates, who was a holdover from the Obama administration and was supposed to be acting Attorney General until Jeff Sessions was confirmed. “Normally that would only be a few days after the inauguration, but we know why that didn’t happen this time,” Ed says of the Senate’s reluctance to confirm Sessions. If you’ve been following the whole Flynn/Russian ambassador saga and aren’t exactly sure what Flynn did to get fired, tune in to The Main Event this week to get the scoop; what it boils down to is that Flynn lied to Vice President Mike Pence – and as Ed says, “Trump’s position is, if you make us look stupid then I’m going to fire your butt.”

In the second half, it’s on to the Trump press conference this past Thursday. First, Ed notes that the other 16 Republicans who ran for President “couldn’t deal with what Trump has dealt with so far” and this week’s press conference is a perfect example. The media wants to portray this press conference as “disturbing” and “all over the place,” but the President made some substantial remarks as well that aren’t getting as much coverage. Of course, you’ll hear them on this week’s The Main Event! If you haven’t heard Trump’s “cheap plastic button” comment from the press conference yet, you’ll hear it here and you’ll love it! That comment was in reference to Hillary Clinton, and Ed has a great point about her: “I think there was a force that ran this country, and the American people saw that Trump was the only one to stop it.”

As the show closes out, Ed recaps what happened earlier this week with the Immigration Customs and Enforcement (ICE) arrests of 680 people around the country. The media wants to focus on stories they find sympathetic, like the one person in Seattle who was arrested mistakenly – but how about the three people in Los Angeles wanted in their home countries for crimes like extortion, cocaine trafficking and child molestation? Guess what: None of those people were from Mexico, which is proof that these immigration actions are not only aimed at deporting people back to Mexico. “If your city is thinking about becoming a sanctuary city,” Ed says, “stand up for your rights. Go to your city council and speak your mind.”

The Main Event – February 10, 2017

Connect with The Main Event on social media! Follow Ed on Twitter @EdHoffman, where he tweets about current events all week long – and, like the show on Facebook at Facebook.com/TheMainEventEdHoffman. Here’s a preview of this week’s show!

There’s a lot to cover on this week’s show, thanks to all the developments in national news. It starts with the Trump administration’s cabinet confirmation victories this week. “The loudest mouth in the Senate – or maybe the loudest mouth in all of politics, Elizabeth ‘Pocahontas’ Warren – has tried to block all the nominations over the past couple of weeks,” Ed says. Tune in to The Main Event to hear her throw insane questions at cabinet appointees Betsy Devos and Tom Price, both of whom were thankfully confirmed despite her theatrics. And if you missed Warren getting kicked off the Senate floor Tuesday night during her bizarre 51-minute rant against the confirmation of Jeff Sessions to Attorney General, you’ll hear it on the show; it’s a beautiful moment! If you were confused as to why she was told to take her seat, Ed reads the portion of Senate Rule 19 that Majority Leader Mitch McConnell used to justified it. “What everyone’s mad about in this election is that Democrats got their ideology wrong and Republicans got their ideology right but didn’t do anything about it,” Ed says. “But finally, we have a government that wants to do something about it. I love it.” As the first half winds down, you’ll hear African-American Republican Senator Tim Scott read on the House floor a series of disgraceful, hateful tweets sent to him after he voted to confirm Sessions. You’ll also hear Ed question why Warren is more concerned with how these cabinet appointees would spend money than how they would fulfill the needs of the departments they serve. “I think that shows you where her mind is at,” Ed says. And as the first half winds down, Ed plays the exchange between Trump and Bill O’Reilly that had O’Reilly saying (paraphrased), “No one in our government is having people killed.”

“Oh really?” Ed responds. “We have a page on our website called Clinton Casualties that says differently.” (Check it out!)

In the second half, Ed is talking to Joey Jones, an advocate for wounded veterans and a good friend of the show. Ed asks Joey if he’s ever met General John Kelly, now our Secretary of Homeland Security. “There’s a chance I’ve met him, between Walter Reed or Capitol Hill,” Joey said. They talk about Secretary Kelly’s testimony before the House Homeland Security Committee this week, where he gave remarks on everything from the Mexican border wall to funding for sanctuary cities. “Kelly is so plainly spoken,” Joey said. “He’s so good at connecting A to B. I attribute it to his Marine Corps background. He’s one of the best tools in President Trump’s toolbox.” Ed references a rally that took place locally in Riverside this week – a rally to make Riverside a sanctuary city. “Give me a break,” Ed says. “I guess they want property values to go down.”

Joey has more to say on the travel ban rollout, as someone who respectfully disagrees with it (unlike Ed). Tune in to hear the lively back-and-forth! One thing they do agree on, though, is when Joey says, “We know we’ve had bad guys coming here since 2001 with the red carpet being rolled out for them.” The show was recorded the day after the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals ruled to uphold the suspension on Trump’s travel ban, so you’ll get fresh analysis and reactions when you tune in to this week’s show.

The Main Event – February 3, 2017

Connect with The Main Event on social media! Follow Ed on Twitter @EdHoffman, where he tweets about current events all week long – and, like the show on Facebook at Facebook.com/TheMainEventEdHoffman. Here’s a preview of this week’s show!

This week’s show starts a bit differently, thanks to some music licensing issues that forced a change to the intro song. So instead of hearing Ed’s favorite band Styx, there’s some instrumental rock as the intro music; tune in for Ed’s remarks on that!

Then it’s on to recapping the news of the week, starting with the so-called “Muslim ban” (that’s only what it’s called if you listen to liberals) – which is, in reality, an executive order officially titled, “Protecting the Nation from Foreign Terrorist Entry into the United States.” Rather than listen to the details of the order through the filter of the media, tune in to The Main Event this week as Ed reads the actual text from the executive order. Ed says, “If I were in this situation (a visa holder) and I had to go through these steps, I would understand it was for the good of protecting people. But apparently that’s a problem for some Democrats.” One of them, as you may have heard this week, is Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer. Ed imitates the crocodile tears Schumer shed on TV.

Next, Ed reminds us that Donald Trump was not the first President to place immigration restrictions on people from Muslim-majority countries. “I remember Jimmy Carter doing that with Iran in 1980,” Ed says, and Barack Obama added Libya, Yemen and Somalia to a list of “countries of concern” just last year. Did you know Obama placed Visa Waiver Program restrictions on people from those countries? He did, and you’ll hear Trump senior advisor Steven Miller talk about it on this week’s show. Closing out this topic, Ed says, “The moral of the story is, whatever Obama does is good and whatever Trump does is bad. And why are we so concerned with denying constitutional rights to people who aren’t U.S. citizens? American rights are for American citizens!”

Then it’s on to discussing Neil Gorsuch, Trump’s Supreme Court nominee to fill the seat of the late Justice Scalia. In this segment, you’ll hear how even CNN can’t find anything negative to say about Judge Gorsuch – and Ed adds a personal anecdote, just for fun (hint: it involves meeting Wolf Blitzer in Washington D.C. two weeks ago). If you missed what House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi said about Gorsuch this week – that “If you eat food, drink water, breathe air or take medicine,” Gorsuch is somehow opposed to you having these basic human rights – then tune in this week to hear her ridiculous comments. “Don’t listen to Pelosi and these idiots in the Democratic party,” Ed says. “She wants you to think he’s going to violate your rights as a human being; that’s wrong.” And as we wind down the first half, Ed’s talking about how Senate Democrats continue to stall Trump’s cabinet confirmations every step of the way.

In the second half, we’re talking about the week’s foreign policy developments, starting with the stern warning our new National Security Advisor, Mike Flynn, issued to Iran. “That sounds good to me,” Ed says. “Didn’t we just give them $150 billion, sign a big treaty with them and have a big group hug with John Kerry and all the Ayatollahs while they were burning our flag and saying ‘death to America?’ And now they’re testing ballistic missiles and enriching uranium, which is what you need to make a nuclear bomb.”

Another foreign policy development, Trump’s phone call with the Australian Prime Minister, is also being discussed. If you agree that there’s no reason for the United States to take 1,250 refugees from Iran, Iraq, Sudan and Somalia off Australia’s hands just because Obama told them we would, tune in the show; Ed feels the same way you do. He also loves the “total New York-ness” of Trump’s National Prayer Breakfast speech: “When you hear about the tough phone calls I’m having, don’t worry about it. We have to be tough.” And as the show closes out, you’ll hear an actual timeline of the raid our Navy Seals conducted on the Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula militants in Yemen last week. Why is this important? Because the media wants you to think that Trump acted in haste by ordering it, which just isn’t true. “You don’t have to know everything,” Ed says. “You just have to know who knows everything.”

There’s also some great mortgage industry insight. As always, Ed reminds listeners who are interested in purchasing or refinancing a home to call him at (855) 640-2020. “You can also call me if you’re interested in a reverse mortgage,” Ed says. “I’ll dial you in and answer all your questions.” He also encourages listeners to consider buying tickets to the WCC Charities Gala & Auction, which will be on February 25 in Riverside. “Call my assistant Shelly at (855) 640-2020 to get tickets,” he says.

The Inauguration’s Over: What Happens Now?

As my radio listeners know, I traveled to Washington, D.C. for the inauguration of the 45th President of the United States. What an experience! I want to thank those of you who followed my frequent social media updates; to those who left “I’m so jealous!” comments on my photos and videos, rest assured that I’m not actually best friends with Sean Hannity, Eric Bolling or the Fox & Friends crew now – it just looked like I was, thanks to the magic of selfies. Plus, keep in mind that I didn’t have access to the TV coverage you did all day long. I missed seeing the Obamas board the Executive One helicopter en route to Andrews Air Force Base; instead, I got to witness people on the ground who thought Trump was in the helicopter en route to the White House. I guess you don’t have to be informed to be excited about Inauguration Day.

So what happens now? If you’re Donald Trump, you get right to work. If you’re the Senate Democrats, you do everything in your power to keep him from working. Even though Trump’s Health and Human Services Secretary pick, Tom Price, said there is no plan to “pull the rug out” from anyone who is covered by Obamacare, the Democrats are stalling his confirmation with all their might. Just because Ben Carson doesn’t fit their mold of what an African-American government servant should believe, they’re throwing him irrelevant questions about whether he would give the LGBT community fair housing treatment and forcing him to promise he won’t let the Trump family profit from any HUD involvement. And because Rex Tillerson has done business with Russia as the CEO of a major American corporation, we are bound to see his confirmation vote becoming a contentious issue next week – just wait and see.

The bottom line is this: The Democrats are embarrassed. It’s been a long time since they’ve seen a President who was focused on getting things done, versus basking in the glory of his new title. Trump knows there’s stuff to do, and he’s there to get it done. Unlike Obama who appointed cabinet positions as favors to his friends from Chicago, Trump thoughtfully interviewed candidates who were recommended to him based on their knowledge, experience and abilities. He didn’t care whether they had done anything for him in the past; he cared what they could do for America’s future.

So far, he’s running the country like a business – the way we knew always he would.

The Main Event – January 27, 2017

Connect with The Main Event on social media! Follow Ed on Twitter @EdHoffman, where he tweets about current events all week long – and, like the show on Facebook at Facebook.com/TheMainEventEdHoffman. Here’s a preview of this week’s show!

This week, Ed is recapping his time in Washington D.C. for the inauguration of the 45th President of the United States, Donald J. Trump. When you tune in, you’ll hear Ed and his traveling buddy Scott discuss what it was like to experience the entire weekend of Trump’s inauguration. You’ll hear about every fist bump with fellow Trump supporters, every run-in with Fox News personalities, and every confrontation with a protestor. “These people just don’t understand,” Ed says of the protestors. “You didn’t find a single one who knew what they were protesting.” Of course, there’s also plenty of talk about crowd size; if you paid attention to the debate over inauguration crowd size this week, you know it’s a hot topic. “It was packed,” Ed says. “There were tons of people.” If you want to be “put in the zone” of the inauguration, tune in to The Main Event this week to hear about Ed’s experience: the people, the mood, and even the security measures. “They went through my wallet and pulled out every single credit card,” Ed says. “What were they looking for, explosives?” He has fascinating anecdotes you don’t want to miss!

Next it’s on to analyzing Trump’s inaugural address. Despite what liberal pundits like Chris Matthews and Rachel Maddow say, the so-called “American carnage” part of Trump’s speech was clearly intended to show support for poverty-stricken Americans – and the “America First” theme makes perfect sense for the inauguration of an American President. “If you run a business, your motto is your company first,” Ed says. “Why should it be any different for our country? I don’t understand why they think any of this is ‘Hitlerian’.”

In the second half, Ed and Scott are still talking inauguration, describing D.C. as “the happiest city on earth” that weekend. The exception is what they saw of the Women’s March, of course. You’ll hear their stories of run-ins with the lovely “pink hat people,” and of course you’ll get to hear Madonna and Ashley Judd one more time! “I actually couldn’t believe that so many women were bringing their kids to this stuff,” Ed says. “Why would you expose them to so much anger?” Ed also describes what it was like to see dozens of women’s marchers flood the lobby of his hotel and scream at the new White House Press Secretary on the big screen (catch the video at www.Facebook.com/TheMainEventEdHoffman).

Next it’s on to recapping Trump’s first week in office – the good parts you might not have heard enough about, like the Roosevelt Room business meeting with 12 of the country’s top CEOs and the seven executive orders he signed. This is a show where we celebrate the accomplishments of our new President!

The Main Event – January 13, 2017

Connect with The Main Event on social media! Follow Ed on Twitter @EdHoffman, where he tweets about current events all week long – and, like the show on Facebook at Facebook.com/TheMainEventEdHoffman. Here’s a preview of this week’s show!

This week, Ed is talking about the Senate confirmation hearings for Trump’s cabinet appointees, starting with Senator Jeff Sessions, Trump’s pick for Secretary of State. Sessions’ hearing got off to a rough start, thanks to Senator Al Franken (AKA Stuart Smalley from Saturday Night Live). When you tune in, you’ll hear Franken questioning Sessions on voter ID laws as a way to portray him as a racist lawmaker throughout his political career; you’ll also get Ed’s take on it. “If these people aren’t savvy enough to get a photo ID, they can’t get money from us taxpayers – so they shouldn’t be able to vote either,” Ed says. “To everyone who’s calling this voter suppression: All it does is eliminate opportunities to cheat. That’s not voter suppression.” Furthermore, Ed says, “Remember in 2008, when the Black Panthers were standing outside polling places to intimidate white voters from voting against Obama? That’s voter suppression.”

You’ll also hear Senator Ted Cruz’s response to Franken, which is getting tons of buzz this week – and the ridiculous fail on the part of Senator Cory Booker to steal the spotlight as the Democrats used him for a political prop in the hearings. After hearing Booker blast Sessions one minute during the hearing and compliment him the next, Ed says, “Whiskey Tango Foxtrot? This guy is a political marionette.” As for Senator Kamala Harris, our new Senator from California, her odd questions to CIA Director appointee Congressman Mike Pompeo were on the treatment of gay CIA employees and global warming, having nothing to do with intelligence. “What do the CIA and climate change have to do with each other?” Ed says. “How did we elect this person to be our Senator?”

In the second half, we’re still talking confirmation hearings. You’ll hear Secretary of State appointee Rex Tillerson get interrogated by Senator Rubio (yes, he’s a Republican) about Putin’s possible involvement in the DNC hacking as well as possible war crimes in Syria. “We’ve got a whole new administration coming in, a chance to make a whole new impression on the world,” Ed says. “I’m not defending Putin, but can Rubio, McCain and these guys keep this stuff behind closed door meetings? Can they decide, ‘Let’s not say these things on global television.’ We already look like wusses on the world stage, thanks to our current President.”

Of course, you’ll also hear about the “fake news” controversy this week courtesy of the website BuzzFeed. If you’ve heard about the unverified “dossier” alleging that Russia has compromising information about Donald Trump but your head is spinning from the details, tune in to The Main Event this week. In regards to BuzzFeed publishing the false information and CNN running with it all day Tuesday, “They were just feeding on this stuff,” Ed says. “It’s like ants in a box of donuts.” Ed also compares this to the time Senator Harry Reid said things about Mitt Romney that weren’t true, apologizing years later when it was too late. “Where’s the accountability?” Ed says.

We’re also talking about Trump’s press conference this week, where he shut down CNN reporter Jim Acosta as retribution. “That’s great!” Ed says. “It shows you don’t just get to lie and say stuff about the President.” Speaking of the press conference, you’ll hear about the ethics portion of the event that Ed believes the American people should be impressed with. “I’ve never been more proud to have elected this man as President,” Ed says. The 14-minute address from Trump lawyer Sherri Dillon contained ample information about how Trump will disconnect from his business interests throughout the presidency, something he doesn’t have to do but will do anyway.

Finally, Ed closes the show with comments on Obama’s farewell address. If you didn’t hear it Tuesday night, rest assured that Barack Obama used his final speech to the American people as one last opportunity to lecture the American people on race. In response to the President saying that a post-racial America just wasn’t possible after his election, Ed says, “It was possible, but you kept it from happening, Barack Obama.”

Next week, Ed will be attending Trump’s inauguration – but The Main Event will go on regardless!

The Main Event – January 6, 2017

Connect with The Main Event on social media! Follow Ed on Twitter @EdHoffman, where he tweets about current events all week long – and, like the show on Facebook at Facebook.com/TheMainEventEdHoffman. Here’s a preview of this week’s show!

This is the first show of Ed’s 10th year on the radio, so he’s celebrating both that and the upcoming inauguration – but first, there’s some real estate investment talk. “For those of you who don’t know, at a certain point you make too much money to get homeownership tax benefits,” he says. “Talk to your tax professional to see if that applies to you.”

Then it’s on to an update on the Russian hacking, which we’re all tired of – but obviously, the media isn’t. “I’m taking it as a personal insult that they’re blaming Trump winning on Russian hacking,” Ed says, “as opposed to winning because enough people had their eyes open.” For a recap of what was reported by the intelligence community this week, tune in to The Main Event. You’ll also hear CNN’s Anderson Cooper ask Kellyanne Conway how Trump “knows things” about the hacking, to which Ed says, “Hey Anderson, Trump’s a billionaire and the President-Elect. He should know a lot of things that the rest of us don’t know.” Closing out this segment, you’ll hear WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange’s fascinating new comments about the true information he published, which is what he believes caused Hillary to lose the election – not the hacking itself. “I agree,” Ed says. “Hillary and the Democrats are dirty crooks, and God bless everyone who saw that and voted for Trump.”

Next, we’re talking about Trump vs. congressional Democrats – people like Senator Chuck Schumer, now the House Minority Leader, who used his time on the floor as the 115th Congress opened to speak out against Trump. “You know what I have to say to that?” Ed says. Tune in to hear what it is, courtesy of audio from a beloved Saturday Night Live character. You’ll also get Ed’s thoughts on personal responsibility vs. the Democrats’ endless efforts to legislate human behavior, and he’ll remind us about all the “pork” that went into the Obamacare law in the first place – things you probably forgot about years ago (like taxes for tanning salons and other insane hikes!).

We’re still talking Obamacare in the second half, including the repeal effort by the Republicans and how the who helped Schumer roll out the ridiculous “Make America Sick Again” campaign this week against Trump. Ed’s also excited about Trump’s plan to defund sanctuary cities, and has some choice words for the mayors of those cities. Speaking of choice words, there are some for Obama as well – you know, the President who made a celebrated “rare trip” to Capitol Hill this week to urge his fellow Democrats to fight the Republicans on an Obamacare replacement. “In the process of coming up with something that can actually become law to fix problems in this country, the President and Congress have to talk,” Ed says. “Obama never talks to anybody but Valerie Jarrett, his wife, and his friends in Hollywood like Jay-Z and Beyoncé” – so he sees no need to celebrate Obama going to the Capitol.

There’s a lot of humor in this week’s show, including Ed’s thoughts on one group’s plan to pass out free marijuana in D.C. on Inauguration Day, which he underscores with audio clips from some of his favorite comedies. “I’m not endorsing weed,” Ed says. “These are just funny movie clips.” Since he’s going to the inauguration, Ed has some practical questions on the logistics of how this will work for people who are planning on taking these joints to the event; considering it’s almost two miles from Dupont Circle to the Washington Mall, “I suspect there are going to be some accidents,” Ed says.

As the show closes, we’re talking about the jobs Trump has saved thus far at Ford and Sprint, which of course is being written off as something that was already happening. “This is a load of BS,” Ed says. “The Democrats want to deny credit for everything Trump is doing.” Good news, though – it’s almost Inauguration Day!

The Main Event – December 30, 2016

Connect with The Main Event on social media! Follow Ed on Twitter @EdHoffman, where he tweets about current events all week long – and, like the show on Facebook at Facebook.com/TheMainEventEdHoffman. Here’s a preview of this week’s show!

Ed is on his annual holiday vacation this week, so filling in is Scott McAfee. Scott opens the show by recapping the recent United Nations Security Council resolution to condemn the Israeli settlements in so-called Palestinian territory. “This is one of those ‘Thank God Donald Trump is going to be the President’ moments,” Scott says. He explains a bit of the history behind the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, and it’s a great way to get up to speed if you’ve been confused by all the back-and-forth on the issue.

Next, Scott interviews a guest he brought in to demonstrate that many Democrats actually helped to get Donald Trump elected: his sister, Janet. Janet has been politically active for decades in the Democrat party, and was even an alternate delegate for Bill Clinton – regardless, she voted for Trump this year. “He was talking about the economy, and the plight of our veterans,” she says. “I have a history of helping homeless and disabled veterans, so I’m particularly aware of their situation.” She also admired Trump’s unwavering commitment to securing our border, unlike Hillary Clinton. “Hillary wanted to increase the Syrian refugee population by 300%,” she says.

People like Janet are proof positive that educated, politically informed Democrats did not necessarily come out for Hillary – and perhaps more of them voted for Trump than we were led to believe. “I’m not interested in party opinions,” she says. “As a former law student, I’m interested in evidence and information. Two of my best friends who voted for Obama were now supporting Donald Trump. This was not just angry white men supporting him; this was a cross-section of people, and they weren’t all willing to tell a pollster they were voting for Trump.” As for Hillary, “She didn’t have a real message, other than ‘I’m a woman’.”

You’ll find the discussion fascinating; tune in to this week’s show to hear it!

In the second half, Scott’s listing the “Top 10 Morons of 2016.” Without giving away too many spoilers, we’ll tell you a couple of the people who received this honor: There’s 49ers quarterback Collin Kaepernick, for obvious reasons; there are also a few groups of people who made the list, including “never Trumpers” and the cavalcade of celebrities who said they’d leave the country if Trump was elected (all of whom are now eating their words because they’re still here in the U.S.). There are great soundbites from some of the people on this list; tune in to The Main Event for some end-of-the-year fun! Ed will be back at the mic next week.

Get Ready for 2017

Here’s my mantra for the new year! Feel free to make it yours, too.

This week, Ed wishes everyone a merry Christmas and happy new year. “2016 was rough, but I’m excited about 2017,” Ed says. He thinks we’ll all “snap out of it” in the coming year as the haze of the Obama presidency thins out. We’re talking about Trump’s electoral college victory this week; Ed plays audio from media figures who were “holding onto hope” that Trump could lose the presidency if the electors voted against him. But in the end, the only so-called “faithless electors” were a handful of people who were replaced – except for the two in Texas who were allowed to cast votes against him, but failed at their endeavor because Texas is the state that put Trump over the 270 vote threshold.

“Remember the video from last week?” Ed says about the celebrities who begged electors to vote against Trump in exchange for their “respect.” “Sorry,” Ed tells them. “I look at Trump’s kids, and I look at Martin Sheen’s kids…kids are a reflection of their parents and how they were raised. Need I say more?” Ed also points out that the only reason anyone wants to change the electoral college is because it didn’t work for Hillary.

Have you heard about the MTV video “New Years Resolutions for White Guys”? If not, you’ll hear about it this week on The Main Event. “Hey kids, get a job,” Ed says. “Have a little appreciation for cops and the military, and grow up.”

We’re also talking about the two terror attacks that happened this week: first the assassination of the Russian ambassador to Turkey, killed by a police officer assigned to protect him as retaliation for Russia’s involvement in the Syrian civil war. Ed explains how Obama’s fruitless “red line” promise contributed to the escalation of the Syrian conflict; if you need a reminder, tune in this week. Ed also points out that Russia, Turkey and Iran met to discuss how to deal with the Syrian conflict and questions, “I wonder why Barack Obama and John Kerry weren’t invited? Maybe it’s because they think we’re a bunch of…I can’t say it on the air.” The other major attack this week, where 12 people were killed by a truck that mowed through a German Christmas market, is being blamed on Chancellor Angela Merkel’s willingness to open Germany’s borders to more than 1 million migrants last year. “What does that sound like?” Ed says. “It sounds like the United States.”

In the second half, Ed’s using this Christmas Eve show to talk about charity. He’s interviewing Gordon Logan, who helped the VFW found their Help a Hero scholarship program. “We do this for veterans who want to make the transition from military to civilian careers,” Logan says. “To date, we’ve given out 700,000 scholarships.” He explains the great program that has helped thousands of veterans pay for college and career training after coming home. “We just gave a check to the VFW for $1 million,” he says. “God bless you,” Ed replies. “People don’t realize how expensive it is to go back to living your life after you come home.”

Next, Ed talks about WCC Charities. “We donate to the organizations that have the lowest overhead,” Ed says. If you want to hear how a transparent, effective charity for veterans is run, tune in to this week’s show; Ed’s telling the story of how his charity was founded, going back to 2007 when he started with golf tournaments benefiting the Ronald McDonald House. “Now we do Pushups for Charity, where we raised $75,000 for Boot Campaign,” he says. He also talks about the track chair that was donated to the Independence Fund, raising money for the Gary Sinise Foundation and more. Ed ends the show by asking everyone to consider donating at WCCcharities.org, or attending the first annual WCC Charities Gala and Auction, which will be at the Victoria Club in Riverside on February 25. “We’re going to have a silent auction, a live auction and some entertainment,” Ed says. “We need your RSVP by January 31.”

The Main Event – December 16, 2016

Connect with The Main Event on social media! Follow Ed on Twitter @EdHoffman, where he tweets about current events all week long – and, like the show on Facebook at Facebook.com/TheMainEventEdHoffman. Here’s a preview of this week’s show!

This week, Ed starts things off with some words for the celebrities who made the sanctimonious, melodramatic video urging the 538 members of the electoral college to vote against Donald Trump. “I have no desire to have those idiots’ respect,” Ed says in regards to their promise to “respect” electors who vote against Trump. “The people spoke.”

Ed also draws a poignant comparison. “It’s coincidence that the day I’m recording is the anniversary of the Boston Tea Party, when the people rose up and said no taxation without representation. That’s what happened on November 8, 2016 – just a different version of it. Now, they’re all debating whether Russia had anything to do with our election.”

As you know, a debate has emerged over the past week as to whether the Russian government interfered in our election to boost Donald Trump. It started last Friday, when CIA agents briefed members of the Senate Intelligence Committee with information that they had performed a “secret assessment” of Russian hacking activity. Ed has audio from the White House saying Trump knew Russia was involved, and you’ll hear the Trump team’s powerful responses. Plus, Ed has a scoop from WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange, who said Thursday that the Russian government was not their source for the leaked Hillary/DNC emails. “My feeling is I don’t give a crap,” Ed says. “Whether it was the Russians or the Chinese, the real question is, how were they able to do it – and why didn’t the Obama administration do anything about it as soon as they knew?”

Next it’s on to discussing the long-awaited pick for our next Secretary of State. After weeks of speculation, Trump chose someone most Americans had never heard of, Exxon Mobil CEO Rex Tillerson. If you’ve caught on that the media worked hard to make Tillerson the next “big bad wolf” of the Trump cabinet this week, Ed has the facts on Tillerson’s actual connection to the Russian government – not the overblown claims you heard in the media this week. Furthermore, Ed says of Tillerson, “He’s a businessman, and you know what business people of this caliber know? They know what to say.” Bottom line, he believes Tillerson has the ability to be a competent diplomat who acts in the best interests of the United States. There’s a lot of fun audio in this week’s show to underscore Ed’s points; tune in to get news, commentary and entertainment at the same time.

In the second half, we start with an update on the 18-year-old Muslim woman in New York City who claimed she was attacked by Trump supporters after the election – surprise surprise, she made the whole thing up. “The media ran with it,” Ed says of the original story. So far, they haven’t made many retractions now that she has admitted to lying. Ed’s also talking about Trump’s meeting with black leaders like NFL great Jim Brown this week. “Here’s someone who’s teaching black youth how to take care of themselves,” Ed says. “Barack Obama should have done that.” Ed likens Jim Brown to one of his personal heroes, George Foreman. “I remember watching this fight with Shannon Briggs and thinking very clearly that Foreman won, but my whole attitude changed when I heard Foreman say this.” Tune in to find out what “this” is; it’s a great soundbite from a champion! Ed has some final thoughts that tie the whole show together with business, family and economics. You’ll also hear how the Federal Reserve raising the benchmark interest rate this week can affect you, as well as its connection to Trump’s election. Don’t miss it!

It’s Getting Harder for the Left

By Ed Hoffman

If you’ve listened to Clinton’s water boy Stephanopoulos on ABC, journalistic disgrace Chuck Todd on NBC or literally anyone on CNN this week, then you’ve probably heard that we’re all supposed to be frightened out of our wits that Donald Trump chose a Secretary of State with economic interests in Russia, Exxon Mobil CEO Rex Tillerson. I was hoping for Rudy Giuliani myself, but so be it; Trump is making choices that are aligned with his “America first” mantra, and that’s the bottom line.

How does choosing someone like Tillerson reflect the promise of putting America first? First of all, it ensures that we have the respect of Russia and that is not such a bad thing. Putin clearly didn’t respect Barack Obama and John Kerry – but Donald Trump and Rex Tillerson, he holds in high esteem. If you ask Democrats, that’s a travesty; however, something tells me they would be fine with Putin respecting a President Hillary Clinton. Why do they worry about us being “hated around the world” only when a Republican is in power? When they’re in power, they seem to have no problem with other countries respecting us. Remember when Obama told Dmitry Medvedev that he would have “more flexibility” after the 2012 election and Medvedev replied, “I will transmit this to Vladimir”? The media refused to criticize that; they said it was Obama exercising good diplomacy with Russia. And as you know, that’s not what they’re saying about Trump this week.

Speaking of double standards, another issue that Democrats and the media all of a sudden care about is cybersecurity. This is something they laughed off during the election when it only concerned Hillary’s role in the hacking of her emails – but now that they can find the slightest hint of a connection to Trump behind it, it’s a huge deal. With the CIA providing intelligence that Russia may have been responsible for hacking and leaking DNC/Hillary staff emails to Wikileaks, the left wants us to believe that Russia interfering with our election was the only reason Hillary Clinton lost. They don’t seem to care about the actual content of the emails or who sent them, or why they were not secure.

So she didn’t lose because she was a terrible candidate who people find totally unrelatable? She didn’t lose because she showed no regard for the seriousness of her office when she used a private email address to conduct government business? She didn’t lose because she demonstrated gross negligence in the disastrous handling of Benghazi, where four Americans died on her watch? How about her using the Secretary of State position to get massive donations to her fake charity – that’s not the reason? According to the left, no; she lost because Russia wanted Donald Trump to win. Sure, that makes perfect sense.

As former FBI official James Kallstrom said this week, maybe it wasn’t the hacking that did Hillary in; maybe it was that Americans didn’t like what they found out about her when the hacked emails were released. Period.

They’re blaming Hillary’s loss on anything they can: first, they blamed the FBI for continuing to investigate her up to election day; next, they blamed it on racism (a myth Trump has debunked once again this week by meeting with prominent black entertainers); and finally, they blamed it on voter error (hence the failed recounts they demanded in states where it turned out Trump won by even more votes than previously thought). So now, all they can do is throw up flares designed to scare Americans into organizing against the incoming President Trump. Last week they focused on the call from Taiwan; this week, it was Russia. Trust me: When that doesn’t work, it will be something else.

As I’ve said on my show many times this month, people don’t realize how much happier they’re going to be when they’re getting a hand up, rather than the handout they’re used to under a Democratic administration. Once they see the prosperity of a Trump presidency for themselves, people will tune out the left’s insanity. When the proof of his success is right in front of them, it’s going to get harder and harder for anyone to convince them otherwise.

This week’s show starts with some comments about the Trump effect on the mortgage industry; if you wondered whether he would have a positive impact, tune in to hear Ed’s thoughts. Next, Ed and his guest Scott are engaging in playful banter and breaking down the political events of the week.

This week, the media had a fit when President-Elect Trump took a phone call from the president of Taiwan. The 10-minute phone call marked the first time that a U.S. president or president-elect deviated from the so-called “one China” position; if you are unsure what that is, tune in to get the lowdown and laugh at the media pundits who had a conniption over it. “There was a ‘no Cuba’ policy too,” Ed says, “but Obama just flipped a switch and said we’re going to be friends with Cuba now – and nobody had a problem with that.” The double standard was also pointed out this week by Vice President-Elect Mike Pence, who reminded George Stephanopoulos that Obama spoke to a whopping 22 world leaders during his transition period and no one seemed to mind.

“I wonder if anyone realizes that Stephanopoulos was Clinton’s right hand,” Ed says.

“Hmm, is that a conflict of interest, for him to be a journalist?” Scott asks.

The segment ends with economist Steven Moore saying, “Taiwan is our ally, and if China doesn’t like it, screw ’em.”

Next it’s on to this week in cabinet picks, including the fact that we’re in the third week of the guessing game on Trump’s appointment for Secretary of State. “I like that he’s taking his time and getting it right,” Ed says, referring to the various candidates Trump is considering. “Romney is a smart guy, but he used some fatal weapons when he said some nasty things.” In regards to Dr. Ben Carson being appointed to Secretary of HUD, Ed is thrilled that he will replace “moron” Julian Castro. “The housing industry is hard enough today,” Ed says, referring to the burdens of regulation that the Obama administration has doubled down on. “When I heard Julian Castro speak, it was obvious he had the same speechwriter as Obama.” He hopes that Carson will address those regulations effectively, and take steps to get people out of government housing programs that are “handouts” rather than “hand-ups.” We’re also talking about the criticisms that Carson’s appointment received in the media this week, as well as talk about those who came to his defense. “Megyn Kelly had some positive things to say,” Ed says. “She’s finally coming back to having some common sense.” This segment gives Ed an opportunity to share some mortgage insight, so tune in if you’re interested in getting his take on the way that the new Trump administration can transform the housing industry for everyone.

In the second half, we’re still talking cabinet appointments – namely, Ed and Scott’s excitement about the appointment of Scott Pruitt to the EPA. “I heard people saying he’s going to turn the EPA into the APA – the American Protection Agency,” Ed says. After that, it’s on to Obama’s final national security speech of his presidency (also known as his “victory lap” speech), where he said that he takes “great pride in the progress we’ve made” in the war on terror. Ed and Scott are aghast, and they have plenty to say about it. There’s also a great comparison between this speech and the things Trump had to say about national security in his North Carolina “thank you tour” speech this week – namely, Obama taking pride in ending waterboarding vs. Trump not caring whether terrorists are comfortable. Whether you heard these speeches or not this week, tune in to the show to get some great commentary.

The Main Event – December 2, 2016

Connect with The Main Event on social media! Follow Ed on Twitter @EdHoffman, where he tweets about current events all week long – and, like the show on Facebook at Facebook.com/TheMainEventEdHoffman. Here’s a preview of this week’s show!

This week, Ed starts the show by addressing the death of Fidel Castro. If you haven’t yet heard the media’s glowing eulogies to the Cuban dictator who murdered his own people, tore families apart and funded worldwide terror groups for more than 50 years, tune in to this week’s show to hear some of them. You’ll also hear Obama’s carefully crafted statement about the “impact that Castro had on so many lives.”

“I’m surprised he didn’t go out there and say we’re going to use the full power of the federal government to investigate this, determine what caused it and make sure it doesn’t happen again,” Ed says. “That’s what he says with everything else.” You’ll also get President-Elect Trump’s view on Obama’s plan to do business with Cuba; as Kellyanne Conway explained this week, he knows we’re not really doing business with the Cuban people. We’re doing it with the still-corrupt Cuban government. Ed also has some comparisons to how we dealt with Iran in the 1980s; he’s got some great insight on the bad deals our country has made in the past, and how he believes Trump is going to do things better, putting America first.

Then it’s on to talking about the terror attack at Ohio State University this week. Ed has facts about the attacker, who is reportedly 18 years old even though he looks about 25 and police are trying to confirm his age – facts like the news that he visited Washington D.C. just last week on Thanksgiving, and lived in Pakistan from 2007 to 2014. “Who else came here from Pakistan?” Ed says. “Tafsheen Malik, who helped her husband kill 14 people in San Bernardino one year ago this week. Let’s not forget, it’s been one year and these people were our neighbors and friends.” Ed also has words for those who “want to pull the race card” on people like incoming National Security Advisor Michael Flynn, who was criticized for past comments that fear of Muslims is rational.

As the first half winds down, Ed breaks down this week in the transition: everything from the rotating candidates for Secretary of State to his excitement over Trump’s pick for Secretary of the Treasury, Steve Mnuchin. “His first order of business will be getting rid of Dodd-Frank,” Ed says. “For those of you who have bought a house and wondered, ‘Man, why do I keep having to sign and re-sign so many forms?,’ that’s all because of Dodd-Frank.” He hopes to see Mnuchin, along with former Quicken Loans executive Shawn Krause who is joining the Housing and Urban Development team, make important changes to the mortgage industry. “This is the most exciting time of Trump’s transition so far,” Ed says.

In the second half, it’s all about J-O-B-S – which Donald Trump is bringing back to the USA. It was big news this week when heating and air conditioning manufacturer Carrier agreed to stop its plan to move operations to Mexico, saving 1,100 American jobs. “He’s not even the President yet and he’s done more for this country than Obama did in eight years,” Ed says. If you heard some of this story but weren’t clear on all the details, tune in to The Main Event this week. Ed has the timeline and some of the finer details, plus inspiring interviews with Carrier employees and music that he personally selected for this incredible story. “This is the greatest thing ever,” Ed says, and he closes out the show with Trump’s words to the crowd in Ohio on Thursday night: “We pledge allegiance to one flag, and that flag is the American flag. From now on, it’s going to be America, and America first.”

What Does the Media Expect?

By Ed Hoffman

After the tumultuous relationship between Donald Trump and the media over the last year, are any of us really surprised that the media is continuing to spew hate his way? They know they’re going to look desperate if they go down the road of covering all the flaws of the electoral college (which they want to abolish so that 1. votes outside of California, Florida and New York won’t count anymore, 2. Hillary can be President and 3. Democrats will win until the end of time). In fact, I’m willing to bet that Hillary and the DNC asked their media buddies to stop covering the electoral college to protect all their reputations. So what can they do instead? Scrutinize every single person Trump appoints to his cabinet, of course – and find opportunities to cry racism about as many of them as possible.

Over the past week, we’ve heard allegations of racism directed at the following Trump cabinet picks:

  • Breitbart publisher Chief Strategist Steven Bannon, because someone at the Communist News Network (yes, that’s CNN) started a rumor that he’s in bed with the “alt-right” and no one has bothered to do their research to confirm if that’s even true. I don’t know much about Steve Bannon at all, but I do know two things: 1.) Trump would not make a white supremacist one of his top advisors, and 2.) The Democrats try to inject race into just about everything. And that’s everything I need to know.[spacer height=”20px”]
  • General and incoming National Security Advisor Mike Flynn, because he said that in the global climate of terror we live in, “Fear of Muslims is rational.” (Gasp!)[spacer height=”20px”]
  • Congressman and incoming CIA Director Mike Pompeo, because he called CIA interrogators “patriots” for waterboarding terrorists after 9/11. Doesn’t Pompeo know patriotism is racist now?[spacer height=”20px”]
  • Senator and incoming Attorney General Jeff Sessions, who fellow Senator Chuck Schumer has promised to drag through the mud during his Senate confirmation hearing because someone claimed he called an African-American attorney “boy” 30 years ago. Never mind that Sessions led the effort to award the Congressional Medal of Honor to the civil rights leaders who marched on Selma. The media only covers what it wants us to believe, and it wants us to believe that Jeff Sessions is pro-KKK a racist – so that’s what we’re going to hear.[spacer height=”20px”]

It’s being leaked today that members of the media are “furious” over the way Trump treated them in a closed-door meeting at Trump Tower this week. Really? They malign him and everyone he has chosen to surround himself with as he prepares to assume the highest office in the land – portraying every bump in the road as a permanent setback, every cabinet appointee as a dangerous risk, and every decision regarding his businesses as a corruption of the presidency. How do they expect him to react?

The Main Event – November 23, 2016

Connect with The Main Event on social media! Follow Ed on Twitter @EdHoffman, where he tweets about current events all week long – and, like the show on Facebook at Facebook.com/TheMainEventEdHoffman. Here’s a preview of this week’s show!

This week is the Thanksgiving show, so Ed starts out by saying what he’s thankful for. “I’m thankful that Trump’s going to make America great again – actually, that we’re all going to make America great again,” he says. Ed reads a fascinating story from libertarian, Fox Business host and knowledgeable history buff John Stossel about the pilgrims almost starving before the first Thanksgiving because of the socialist economy they had established; if you haven’t heard this before, it will open your eyes for sure. It’s a Thanksgiving history lesson every conservative needs to hear! “Play this for your kids every year,” Ed says, “so they can understand this stuff.”

Next it’s on to talking about Trump’s ongoing cabinet picks, and Ed starts it out by addressing someone that is still being maligned almost two weeks after he was named: Trump’s Chief Strategist Steve Bannon, also the current publisher of Breitbart News. “Somewhere along the way, Breitbart became known as an ‘alt-right’ website even though there are Jews, gays and other people who write for the site and deny this,” Ed says. “But plenty of people who know Bannon say that they don’t know where these allegations of white supremacy came from.” Ed will play one perspective on Bannon that might surprise you: NPR host Steve Inskeep host saying he doesn’t really know where it came from, either. “He doesn’t seem to be an overt racist,” Inskeep says, “but he seems to be a guy who wants to break a lot of China.” Ed replies, “Whatever that means.”

But because the liberal media loves to cry racism, these allegations aren’t stopping at Steve Bannon. Now that Trump has chosen General Mike Flynn to be National Security Advisor, the media is painting a dark picture of him (ironic, since he’s a registered Democrat and Obama appointee). In response to a clip of Meet the Press host Chuck Todd asking, “Does President Trump agree with Mike Flynn that fear of Muslims is rational?” Ed says, “I don’t know, does anyone in San Bernardino think that fear of Muslims is rational after they were attacked by Syed Farook?”

Next, Trump named Congressman Mike Pompeo the next Director of the CIA. A former Army Officer, Pompeo is a member of the House Intelligence Committee; on this week’s show, you’ll hear ABC’s election night crybaby Martha Raddatz sounding appalled that Pompeo would support advanced interrogation techniques of terrorists.

Then it’s on to Trump’s pick for Attorney General, Senator Jeff Sessions. Because he’s from Alabama, the left wants us to think he’s racist (of course). “I don’t know, it’s hard to say that someone is a racist if they awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor to people who marched on Selma,” Ed says. “All because he called somebody ‘boy’.” Tune in this week to hear a fiery response from Sheriff David Clarke, which Ed agrees with wholeheartedly, as well as a smackdown from Senator Lindsey Graham. “Anybody that Donald Trump puts in his cabinet, people are going to criticize,” Ed says. “Especially from CNN, the Communist News Network.” He urges people to “think about what you said 30 years ago” when it comes to the media’s treatment of Trump’s cabinet picks.

On this week’s show, you’ll also hear about:

  • The smug display from the Hamilton cast to Mike Pence – hear Ed’s own experiences with liberal artists he has gone to see perform, and hear him relate this to Bill Clinton’s staff treating George W. Bush’s incoming staff.
  • What acquaintance of James “Mad Dog” Mattis – who Trump is expected to accept the Secretary of Defense position – told Ed that Mattis should have run for President himself.
  • Which Trump adviser says Mitt Romney is truly in the running for Secretary of State (and which Trump adviser says Giuliani would be a better choice).
  • The media’s hypocritical demands that Trump form a “blind trust” to prevent his businesses from interfering with the presidency – seemingly forgetting how Hillary Clinton injected her personal interests in everything she did as Secretary of State (“But the Clinton Foundation does such good stuff,” Ed says sarcastically. “And the media is worried that Trump’s business and family interests might corrupt the presidency?”
  • Trump’s First 100 Days update released via video this week, in its entirety.

Time to Celebrate

By Ed Hoffman

Like many of you, I’ve felt a little more alive over the past two weeks. No exaggeration here: I don’t think I realized how much the Obama administration, Hillary Clinton’s disastrous candidacy and the lack of hope in this country had affected my health. I think a lot of you can relate.

But as we celebrate, there are people who are literally in mourning this week. I’m not gloating in front of them, and I hope you aren’t either. They don’t know what they don’t know, and that deserves our pity. For a variety of reasons – whether it’s the naivety of youth, their lack of information, or just plain gullibility – they don’t understand why more than 60 million Americans voted for Donald Trump. And since they don’t understand it, they’re calling it something they can understand: racism. It’s ridiculous to those of us who understand racism had nothing to do with Trump’s victory, but for them, it’s all they know.

The college kids setting our country’s flag on fire in LA, the unemployed New York millennials marching in front of Trump Tower, and the protesting class who have spent the past five days inciting violence in Portland and Seattle…they all have one thing in common: They grew up with Barack Obama as President. In other words, they’ve been hearing the President of the United States and his allies in the media call Republicans racist for the past eight years. So naturally, they believe with all their hearts that Donald Trump is racist (and by association, everyone who voted for him must be too).

“But if he just hadn’t said ‘rapists and murderers’ that very first week of the campaign, they wouldn’t have been able to call him racist…” I’ve heard that argument too, and I think it’s wrong. These people would have called him racist no matter what, because it’s what the Democrats and their loyal media allies do every four years to the Republican nominee, no matter who it is – and unfortunately, the uninformed public buys into it.

They did it to Mitt Romney, they did it to John McCain, and the election after he united our post-9/11 nation, they did it to George W. Bush. They will do it to every Republican nominee for the remainder of our lifetimes, because it’s all they have. And because their President for the past eight years has been obsessed with race, it will be worse than ever. That’s what we’re experiencing now – and no matter how much he pretends to be conciliatory, he is the reason these protests have escalated. If he hadn’t gone around the world apologizing for America for the past eight years (he’s doing it in Greece this week, by the way), sympathizing with the violent demonstrations after police-involved shootings, and lecturing Christians after every Islamic terror attack, maybe the younger generation wouldn’t be so weak.

They’ve been raised to believe that’s how we should be – because after all, that’s what their President is. Then, along comes this strong presidential candidate; even if they knew who he was in pop culture or business, they didn’t know him in this capacity. He didn’t talk like the current President. He said America is supposed to be a great country. He said we have to secure our borders. They’ve never heard a President talk like this before – and so, he must be a racist. But Barack Obama doesn’t get all the blame for this; to a lesser extent, some blame falls in Hillary Clinton’s lap too. After all, she had no problem playing the sexism card for the duration of her campaign.

These people don’t know how happy they’re going to be two years from now, when everyone has a job and they’re paying lower taxes because the number of people getting a paycheck from the government is drastically reduced. These people don’t know how much better their lives will be because of the new Republican majority, and it could be years before they realize it because of how powerfully they’ve been conditioned for the past eight years.

If you voted for the candidate who held six rallies in six different states on November 7 before getting up at 4 AM on November 8 and staying up a full 24 hours until the race was called in his favor, then you have reason to celebrate; clearly, you care about having a President with energy, focus and stamina. If you decided not to vote for the creature who had nothing in her favor but the woman card, and instead voted for the candidate who fought like politicians don’t normally fight, you are earning your reward this week. You realized that we were on the edge of a cliff, and you slammed on the brakes. Because of people like you, me and President-Elect Donald Trump, we’re on our way to making America great again.

Election day was just over a week ago, but everyone’s already talking about who Trump will appoint to his cabinet. The first announcement came Sunday: that RNC Chair Reince Priebus will be his Chief of Staff. “I was kind of hoping for Newt Gingrich,” Ed says. “You need someone who’s smart, has Trump’s respect and can steer him.”

A string of public figures visited Trump Tower this week to meet with Trump for consideration.  The positions they are being considered for include:

Attorney General, where the contenders are said to be former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani, Senator Jeff Sessions or – to the surprise of everyone – Senator Ted Cruz, Trump’s #1 rival during the primaries. “I think Ted Cruz would be good for the Supreme Court,” Ed says.

Secretary of State, for which the candidates are former United States Ambassador to the UN John Bolton, Senator Bob Corker, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, and South Carolina Governor Nicky Haley – and as of Thursday afternoon, 2012 Republican nominee Mitt Romney was added to the list! “I used to be a fan of his,” Ed says.

Secretary of Homeland Security, for which Trump is considering Maricopa County Arizona Sheriff Joe Arpaio, Milwaukee County Wisconsin Sheriff David Clarke, and – once again – both Rudy Giuliani and Jeff Sessions. (Giuliani and Sessions are said to be able to choose any position they want because of their loyalty during the campaign).

National Security Advisor, which General Mike Flynn was just appointed to!

Secretary of Health and Human Services, former Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal (because he was secretary of the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals), and Florida Governor Rick Scott (who was chief executive of a large hospital chain). One person has already turned the job down: Dr. Ben Carson, and Ed will defend that decision on this week’s show. “I love Ben Carson,” Ed says. “I think he just wants to keep his lifestyle, jump in to help whenever he wants and then jump out and go back to his private life.”

The media has been putting pressure on Trump to make fast cabinet appointments, covering his transition non-stop even though it’s only been two weeks since the election. Guess how long other Presidents in recent history took to start making cabinet appointments? Obama took 3 weeks; Bush, Clinton, Reagan and Nixon all took 6 weeks. So Newt Gingrich is telling the media to back off. “It’s amazing that they don’t want to give him time to prepare,” Ed says. “Trump has been criticized for saying dumb stuff when he didn’t have time to think about it. Take all the time you want; you have 60 days until you’re President.” Speaking of being prepared, Ed reminds us of the time Hillary bragged about being prepared in the second debate, and saying she was “prepared to be President.” “I guess that was wasted time, huh Hillary?” Ed says.

As the first half closes out, you’ll hear how Ed believes Trump’s energy policies will likely make a positive impact on the nation: “In comes Donald Trump, who lowers the corporate tax, reduces regulations and opens up the land to drilling, which creates a whole bunch of jobs. Maybe then, the oil companies can charge $40 a barrel, everybody’s working again, and we stop buying oil from the Middle East. It makes things better for everybody; it’s cause and effect.”

“People say Trump doesn’t understand foreign relations,” Ed says. “Bull. Trump understands money, which makes nations run.”

In the second half, we’re talking about the media meltdown this week when Trump went to dinner without the press pool on Tuesday. You’ll hear a few of the most annoying reporters who were on camera this week whining about it, including the shrill CNN reporter who called it “a matter of national security” (Ed’s response: “I never thought of the press as being important to national security”) and the Politico reporter saying that “God forbid something should happen to Donald Trump,” the press should be there to cover it. “Oh you mean like if someone shot him from the book depository, or he was attacked by a terrorist?” Ed says. There were more than a few journalists who pretended to be concerned about a possible Trump assassination this week, giving that as their reason for outrage over his media-free dinner.

You’ll also hear about the actions of moronic protestors around the country, including:

  • How many of the rioters who were arrested in Portland didn’t even bother to vote
  • How a young father in Chicago died this week, thanks to protestors who blocked his ambulance
  • What protestors in San Diego did to get hit on the freeway
  • How sanctuary city officials like Rahm Emmanuel and Charlie Beck are fanning flames

“All because he said Mexico doesn’t send us their best people, and we have to vet people who come in from Muslim countries,” Ed says. “That’s their reason.”

As the show comes to a close, Ed’s talking about the worst propositions we passed in California last week. “You dumb asses out there voted for it,” Ed says of Proposition 57. “Sorry, cops.”
